Home Visits

Doctor's bag

A surgery consultation provides the best conditions for assessing and examining patients. A home visit should only be requested when a patient is unable to come to the surgery. Please remember, the doctor can see five patients in the surgery in the time taken to make a home visit.

Requests for home visits should be made before 10:30 am. The doctor in attendance will then call to discuss the reasons for the  home visit. Please give the receptionist some details of the patients conditions so that the doctor can deal with the more urgent problems first.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
