A surgery consultation provides the best conditions for assessing and examining patients. A home visit should only be requested when a patient is unable to come to the surgery. Please remember, the doctor can see five patients in the surgery in the time taken to make a home visit.
Requests for home visits should be made before 10:30 am. Please give the receptionist some details of the patients conditions so that the doctor can deal with the more urgent problems first.
You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
